The people who had found each other there called it a loss. Beneath the broken booth, Ninja Noize hears a pulse the machinery missed. B.B. saves the fragment—not to rebuild yesterday, but to give tomorrow something to begin with.

The fragment points to a night-shift gathering. Someone heard the same birthday melody here—and passed it to a dancer at the Pulse Foundry. The Standard owns the daytime clocks and tries to claim the hours after them. Here, night workers bring their unfinished songs. B.B. finds a gap in the broadcast schedule; Ninja Noize fills it with a rhythm nobody was assigned. For one hour, nobody asks what they have accomplished.

A dancer recognizes Rommy B’s rhythm between the factory’s approved beats. She sends the pair toward a sanctuary that has moved beyond the Authority’s reach. Every machine here moves to the approved tempo. So do the people, until a bassline lands between the marks. A dancer misses the prescribed step and laughs. Someone follows. Ninja Noize leaves the rhythm unfinished so the room can answer in its own time.

The sanctuary’s people have carried their speakers to a new home. Inside a salvaged case, B.B. finds a relay code in its creator’s hand. The Authority keeps relocating anything it cannot neatly contain. This gathering survives in borrowed rooms and hand-carried speakers. Ninja Noize arrives expecting a building. He finds people setting up together. The sanctuary was never the address; it was the promise to make room for the next arrival.

The code opens a buried channel in the Authority’s message hall. A familiar voice breaks through: “If this reaches you, follow the water.” The hall sorts the city’s messages into acceptable futures. Work harder. Be grateful. Stay useful. Ninja Noize slips an open microphone into the relay. The first voice is barely audible: I used to draw. Then another speaks. B.B. keeps the channel open without deciding whose dream matters most.

At the flood doors, the message nearly dissolves into static. B.B. repairs the receiver while Ninja Noize’s bassline carries the clue to people across the water. The Standard files grief under lost productivity. Behind the flood doors, people have learned to say they are fine. A low note trembles through the concrete. Nobody is asked to smile. Some dance, some stand still, and some finally cry. The signal makes space for all of them.

The people answer with separate pieces of the same melody. Together they reveal a route to an old theatre where someone has been recording the city’s forgotten voices. The Authority promises belonging in exchange for sameness. In the yard, no two frequencies match. Ninja Noize stops trying to make a perfect chorus and lets the rough edges stay. The people hear themselves inside the sound—and discover that being different does not have to mean being alone.

A hidden camera has preserved a glimpse of Rommy B passing through. Its mysterious filmmaker left a second recording: the Crown’s scoreboard hides another channel. Instruments the city called impractical gather dust beneath the stage. A visitor picks one up, then apologizes for being rusty. Ninja Noize asks for one phrase. An unseen filmmaker’s lens catches the moment they forget to apologize. That small recording travels farther than any polished instruction from the towers.

They interrupt the rankings long enough to catch that channel. Rommy B is alive, but his route leads away from the towers and into the quiet western streets. The Standard ranks everyone against someone just out of reach. Ninja Noize interrupts the endless standings with a question: what would you make if nobody scored it? The giant display goes dark. In the quiet, one person answers. Then another. For once, there is no last place.

Beyond the towers, a half-finished musical sketch matches B.B.’s memory. Its maker left directions to a place where the Standard cannot measure a heartbeat. The streets look settled. Inside, people wonder when their own ideas became something for later. The signal asks for no reckless leap and no abandoned responsibilities. It asks for one honest hour. A parent opens an old notebook after everyone sleeps. That counts as a beginning.

Under the Canopy, B.B. plays the birthday stream from 2015. Beneath the familiar sound, Ninja Noize hears a new clue: a lantern, a stage, a light left on. Beyond the concrete loops, the city’s measuring devices lose their signal. Under the trees, Ninja Noize turns the speakers down. B.B. folds its little paws and waits. No mission. No output. Just wind, a melody and people remembering that being alive is larger than being useful.

The Lantern’s first performer carries the next message. To find the maker, they must enter a room where the system cannot sort people by their assigned names. The walls project the version of you everybody expects. A reliable worker. A safe choice. Someone who never makes a scene. Ninja Noize cuts the projector and leaves the stage light on. A visitor steps into it with shaking hands. Nobody can promise success. The room can promise to listen.

Among the Unlisted, a stranger recognizes the little bear. “Your maker is waiting,” they say. “Look for the last light that stays on.” The Standard needs a label before it will open a door. Here, names are chosen and masks belong to their wearers. Ninja Noize finds a room full of people who were told they were too much, too strange, too difficult. Nobody asks them to become easier to explain.

At the Last Light, B.B. hears a voice it knows: Rommy B. After the long separation, the inventor and Ninja Noize finally find each other—but one signal is still missing. After every unanswered message and every almost, one small room still has its lights on. There is no audition at the door. Rommy B leaves a channel open for anyone trying again. Ninja Noize recognizes the feeling: before the movement, there was a friend willing to press go with him.

A recording from the Whisper Cell answers the mystery of the hidden camera: R0JI. Back from her educational journey in 2026 as a master of video, she returns to help her father with photography, video and Brown Bear Productions—and preserve the voices the Standard tried to erase. The Authority can predict polite agreement. It struggles with friends making each other laugh. Below the official channels, jokes become little acts of recognition. Ninja Noize sends a ridiculous rhythm; B.B. answers with a tiny off-beat step. The room remembers that freedom can feel joyful, too.

In 2026, Ninja Noize, Rommy B, R0JI and B.B. reunite. Brown Bear Productions brings the sound, the invention and the images together; at last, the team can answer as one. The mirrors offer a more acceptable face, a safer sound, a life with fewer questions. Ninja Noize covers the glass. His own mask is a choice, not an instruction. One by one, people stop asking the reflection for permission and begin deciding what they want to reveal on their own terms.

With the team reunited, B.B. unlocks the Iron Basin’s final transmission. Beyond the broadcast gates, the main stage lights up: the search is over, and the real mission against the Standard is about to begin. The Standard still controls the citywide channel. The team has recovered each other, not defeated the system. Ninja Noize steps toward the light while Brown Bear checks the rig and R0JI readies her camera. The next broadcast will be different. This time, nobody is going alone.
